On Demand Publishing

This morning I was greeted by an ad on the Wired magazine RSS fee for CreateSpace.com, an On Demand subsidiary of Amazon.com.  They offer free registration and no set-up fees.  On demand publishers are growing, and I used Trafford to publish my book in 2004. Funds for Writers blog lists nearly all of them, but this was the first time I had heard of the Amazon outfit.  My book is listed on Amazon, but it cost me a lot to get it there.  This raises the usual questions about on demand publishing that revolve around distribution, marketing, and having a platform from which to promote your book and other collateral materials.  As anyone used CreateSpace.com?
